When to Send Mail
You should be using an e-mail service provider that allows you to schedule your e-mails to be sent out at a later date so you don’t have to worry about being available to press send right when you want the message to go out. When scheduling your messages you want to try to catch people when they are likely to be checking their e-mail regularly (so the inbox isn’t already piled up), and when they are in a frame of mind that makes them more likely to read your message.
Typically, Tuesday and Wednesday are prime days for professionals to open e-mail, but make sure to take into consideration any special aspects of your industry that may change that. For example, many real estate agents work on Saturdays and may take a weekday off of work. This would effect when they check e-mail.
The goal is to provide the information when they would be most receptive to it: when their inbox is not loaded down with mail and they are working but not at their busiest time. A good method may be to start with Tuesday and/or Wednesday and then test some different days to see if you can improve the open rate. Any good ESP will provide a place where you can view how many messages were opened. This will allow you to test different days to see if one gives you a significant advantage.
Good luck!
